PS2 Emulator for Android

PS2 Emulator For Android Description

Remember playing the PS2? Good ol’ days! It was the maybe most succesful console of the all time! Sony won the sixth generation competition with a truly universal device which reads DVD disc (not smaller one, like in GameCube or Dreamcast). Very good pad and not that high price. PS2 survived nearly 10 years. Developers stopped doing new games for Sony’s child quite recently, but many of the titles are quiet new and can provide a good value of entertainment!  But the most important thing is PS2 library of games. It’s insanely big! You can have it on your Android device today! Just follow one of the download links at the bottom of the page! It’s really worth downloading. Just send it to your device and spend hours playing good old games! Emuzone Team wish you enjoy our hard work! Please leave your opinion about our new emulator in the comments!

Sony got into the gaming industry by the accident which was fatal for Nintendo. The creators of Mario, Zelda and Donkey Kong wanted to create the CD-Rom drive for the SNES (known as Super Nintendo Entertainment System), so they were seeking a company which is able to do that thing. But this idea completely failed and Sony created the new console, which became a great competitor for the Nintendo. Nintendo 64 was a great thing, but the first Playstation was really awesome and when it’s rival used maximum 64MB cartridges, PS1 games were distributed on the CD’s! Sony also planned to develop a Super Nintendo-compatible, Sony-branded console, but one which would be more of a home entertainment system playing both Super Nintendo cartridges and a new CD format which Sony would design

But, this is an article about the PS2 and we’ve got much to say about that great game system.  So, let’s discover more facts about the successor of first Playstation!

There was a third big video game corporation, which sold the milions of it’s consoles. It was the SEGA. So, a couple of years after the success of the first Sony system, the Sega Dreamcast was launched. Sales? 500,000 in just two weeks, after that only worse… It offered the better graphics, Visual Memory Unit cards and a lot of fun games made with the companion of big developers.  And, of course Sega got their very own unique games. It sold a bit better than the previous Sega Saturn and writing applications especially for this console was easier. It was complicated on the Saturn, because of eight (!) processors.  If you are interested in Dreamcast gaming, you may try our emulator for Android.

Dreamcast was popular, but for a short time. It has ideally  fillled the gap after the PS1 and before PS2, but the next Sony’s child completely destroyed the dreams of Sega and led its rival company to the bankruptcy. Soon after the Dreamcast’s North American launch, Sony unveiled the PlayStation 2 at the Tokyo Game Show in September 1999.Sony showed fully playable demos of upcoming PlayStation 2 games including Gran Turismo 2000 (later released as Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec) and Tekken Tag Tournament – which showed the console’s graphic abilities and power. It has beaten the Dreamcast sales and made $250 million of income in just first day after release. It was very hard to obtain the PS2 in retail shelves these times and people on Ebay were buying it for even over then thousand dollars! Imagine – they probably knew that the price will fell off, but they wanted to have PS2 that much! But, the functionality of the newest Playstation also allowed people to watch DVD films, and the price of this device was very competetive to standalone DVD players.

Sega discontinued the Dreamcast in 2001, just 18 months after the launch. So, PS2 was an only manufactured console of the sixth generation  in the time of 6 months! We might say, that all video game industry belonged to Sony! After that, Microsoft Xbox and Nintendo GameCube were released. Both were the commercial success, but it was too less to win with Sony. Imagine the fact that the PS2 games were produced  from 2000 to 2013. Nearly 13 years of great gaming!

The PlayStation 2 may natively output video resolutions on SDTV and HDTV from about 480i to 480p while other games, such as Gran Turismo 4 and Tourist Trophy are known to support upscaled 1080i resolution utilizing any of the following standards: composite video(480i), S-Video(480i), RGB(480i/p, VGA (for progressive scan games and PS2 Linux only), YPBPR part video (which display most PS1 games in their native 240p mode which many HDTV sets don’t support), and D-Terminal. Cables are readily available for all these signal types; these cables also output analog stereo audio. Furthermore, an RF modulator is available for the system to connect to older TVs.

Digital (S/PDIF) audio may likewise be output by the console by means of its TOSLINK connector which can produce 5.1 ch Sound.  The basic PlayStation 2 memory card has an 8 MB capacity. There are a variety of non-Sony manufactured memory cards available for the PlayStation 2, allowing for a memory capacity larger than the standard 8 MB. The console also includes USB and IEEE 1394 ports. A hard disk drive can be set up in a bay on the back of the console, and was needed to play certain games, notably the popular Final Fantasy XI. This was just available on particular versions.
